The INNOTECS (International Network of Technical Schools) is a European non-profit organisation for deans, directors and teachers of Technical schools, mainly focused on Vocational Educational Training level and High school level. The objective of INNOTECS is to address the future challenges coming from the European Labour market.

The third INNOTECS conference took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, on October 25th , 2017.

The objective of the conference was to bring together directors, teachers and professionals in technical education all over Europe with the aim to exchange best practices, offer an opportunity to network and  inspire each other to contribute to the development of technical education in Europe.

Anabel Menica from Politeknika Txorierri in the Basque Country, Spain; Nuno Escudeiro, from Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, Portugal; and Prof. Giorgos Papadourakis from Technological Educational Institute of Crete, Greece, participated in the conference. Professor Giorgos Papadourakis was the key note speaker in the conference where he presented the OPENIN project, entitled “Open Source Applications for Industrial Automation (OpenIn)” and showed examples of the kind of material developed by the project consortium.

There were around 40 attendants present from eight different countries: Finland, France, Greece, Denmark, Italy, The Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Professor Giorgos Papadourakis power point presentation was received with remarkable attention and it was followed by questions and suggestions from the attendants. Anabel Menica shared the OPENIN project leaflets and all the attendants were encouraged to download the material from the website, to pilot it and to share their experience and results with the project consortium.
